Express entry is a highly sought after and completely automatic immigration process designed by the Canadian authorities. It is not exactly any immigration program by itself. It is rather a system used for immigration by IRCC (Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada). The immigration programs making use of this system include Federal Skilled Worker Class, Federal Skilled Trades Class, Canadian Experience Class and a certain part of the Provincial Nominee Programs.

The Express Entry pool is open to the candidates who are eligible and willing to move to Canada. The first step to this process is actually to determine whether you are eligible for the process. Your eligibility can be determined with the help of Canada Visa assessment form. You need to fill up this form in order to find out whether you are eligible to be a part of this Express Entry pool.

If you are eligible, the next step is to make an expression of interest, which is done by making an online profile. This profile includes a number of information points including your skills, your prior work experience, your English language proficiency, education and certain other personal information. The candidates making their respective online profile would then be ranked as per the Comprehensive Ranking System.

The CRS system ranks the candidates on the basis of a number of factors including the applicant’s core human capital, if the applicant would be accompanied by spouse or any other common law partner, factors related to skill transferability and certain other factors which are related to provincial nomination. A maximum of 1200 points can be obtained under the Comprehensive Ranking System.

Immigrants from this pool are selected by the Canadian government, provincial governments and other Canadian employers. The candidates with the best ranks and having a valid job offers are then invited to file an applicant for the Permanent Residence in Canada. This application for the permanent residence must be filed within 90 days of receiving the invitation from the authorities. IRCC endeavours to process all the applications within a time period of 6 months from the submission date.
